Airports can be considered as small cities, with shops, parkings, restaurants and other activities producing waste. Just as an example, Naples International Airport produces every year about 1200 tons of waste similar to urban waste, which is very close to the yearly production of Ravello town, in the Amalfi Coast.
For this reason, we pay very special attention to waste sorting, which, in 2018, reached the remarkable percentage of more than 65%.
Some of the waste collected in the airport, particularly paper and plastics, are returned to the production cycle as secondary raw materials, in view of circular economy and environmental sustainability.
Moreover, the Airport is engaged in several environmental awareness campaigns, most of all to fight against the spread of plastics in the sea.
We adhere to Emergensea campaign by MAREVIVO aiming at protecting our seas from the feared invasion of plastics.
